I installed SQL Server Experess edition initially. After I uninstalled Express I tried to install the Developer edition. The install is failing for Notification Services, Integration Services and Client Components (or Workstation Components). Each fails with the message: "A component that you have specified in the ADD_LOCAL property is already installed. To upgrade the exisiting component, refer to the template.ini and set the UPGRADE property to the name of the component." Does anyone have an idea how to fix this? Thanks, Scott Hi Scott, Some say that you need to uninstall Express Edition completely first and then try installing Developer Edition and then reinstall Express Edition. I have not faced any problem like this yet so I didn't have a chance to try it out. I saw this problem and suggested solution on a forum once. Let us know the result please? I would be happy to re-install Express, then remove, then re-install the developer edition if I thought it would fix the problem. The install still fails with the same error messgage. But checking the Application Event Log the large number of error messages that I listed below are gone. The only error messsage that I got is: Event ID: 107 Report Server Windows Service (MSSQLSERVER) cannot connect to the report server database. I am going to try and install once again. To fix it, you can try set a dependency to Report Service.
