Restart SQL Server Agent automatically if it stops

I had an earlier post about the SQL Server Agent on a SQL cluster
stopping every now and then.

I noticed that there is an option under SSA properties to "Restart
Agent if it stops", but it's greyed out.

Anyone know how I can have the Agent restart itself if it stops?

I think the cluster service controls it, so is it possible?

We used RAID10 on our Cluster for high availability and speed.

All clustered services are set to Manual and should remain that way. The
cluster should handle starting and stopping of the SQL Agent. Look at the
properties of the SQL Agent resource within the cluster - Advanced tab -
restart options. Are they set properly?

Cheers,

Rod

I noticed those settings.  Yes, they are set to the default, which is
to restart the Service automatically.

In fact, the last entries from the startup process in the SQL Agent logs
states this explicitly, THIS IS A CLUSTERED CONFIGURATION, THE AUTO RESTART
SETTING WILL BE IGNORED.

Yes, you have to control this from the Cluster Administrator settings for
the restart.

Sincerely,

Anthony Thomas
