Hi all,

is it possible to install SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition on two nodes of a
4-node-cluster? MSFT states that Standard Ed. supports two-node-clusters but
does it also supports a two-node-cluster within a 4-node Windows cluster?

Thanks and best regards

Standard will only work on a 2 node.

Cheers,

Hi Rodney,

thanks for your answer. Do you by any chance have a URL or some piece of
documentation as a source or is your comment based on your experience?

Thank you!

Best,
Nils Loeber

Look under High Availability :) 3 Supports only two nodes.

Hello Rodney,

yes, I already knew that, but what I would like to know is whether it is
possible to install SQL Standard on only two nodes of a 4-node Windows
cluster. I haven't seen this exact scenario mentioned in any docs (only that
a maximum of two nodes is supported), so if you have specific information on
that I would be grateful.

Best regards,
Nils Loeber

I understand your query now (query, he he - I kill me), it's a gut feeling.
I have never tried it.
