I would like to know if it's possible for the nlb to detect a close
connection from my server when SQL Server service is stopped ?

I can perfom the stuff with IIS (by updating metadatabase file), I
would like to know if something like this can be done with Sql Server
2000 (on Win 2003).

Best regards,

Fred

No, it is not. NLB can detect if a node is failed, but does not check the
health of individual services.

Ok, but I can the thing with IIS changing a metabase key (IIS close
connection when it detect a problem). The whole thing is just to have a close
connection on the port ?

Again, NLB can detect if a node is failed, but does not check the
health of individual services.
