Hello,

A database, that attaches to a SQL Server at work (local on a stand alone
PC) refuses to be attached to an SQL Server at home (local on a stan alone
PC).
Both are SQL Server 2008 with Service Pack 1.

The message I receive at home is:

Hello Michel,

Is your Operating System Windows Vista? Is UAC enabled?

Can you try to open SSMS as Administrator? (Right click on the SSMS icon and
click Run as Administrator).

P.S.
When I was in Belgium (I passed to Belgium from The Netherlands), I first
visited Antwerp and then I was thinking if it would be a good or bad idea to
visit Bruges as well but it was far away from Antwerp and Brussels so I
omitted it from the plan and headed to Brussels. Did I miss too much? I hope
not =(

Note:
Resent because I don't see my reply on the list.

At home, it is Vista indeed.  I use SQL Server Management Studio to attach
the database.  When Running as Administrator, I was able to attach the
database!
Thank you very much!
Is there a way to start a program always as administrator without having to
right-click the icon and explicitly click 'Run as Administrator'?

I like my city very much.  Perhaps I'm prejudiced, but I think it's very
beautiful.

This, I do not understand.

Thank you very much indeed for your help.

You may want to disable UAC (User Access Control) feature of Windows Vista,
so you'll not have to run as an administrator explicitly.

I had the same issue with Windows 7. Run SQL Server Management Studio as an
administrator, and the database attached just fine.

Thanks for the insight.

Thank you !
this post really helped me a lot.

Also, before, I add to set the security of the folder containing the mdf
file in order to grand access to users related to SQLSERVER (right click
properties / securities).

About how to make a program always start as administrator:
right-click/property/compatibility/privilege level... and it is done !
I am using windows 7.

Thanks again !
