However, I have tried on several occasions to get help with columns and no
one is
able to assist me in understanding how columns work in Reporting Services
2005.

Could someone provide me with a basic understanding how to setup columns for
mailing list? Or, is there a website, technical documents or white papers
online etc. that anyone could point me to for a greater understanding how
columns are used?

Our China International office have an immediate need for this mailing list.

Again, the columns will be used for displaying/printing mailing labels.

Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Hi Terry

Under SRSS 2K SP2, mhtml rendering is 'funky'.

I can look at the preview under VS.NET, export as (pdf/preview/etc.), etc.
and all is great. BUT, I have shifting many times in the 'View' from the
Report Manager when the report is legal sized, has alternating colors on the
detail lines, etc.

'As a drill' and IF you have MS Access:

1. Create a mailing label report
2. Import it into VS.NET
3. Deploy it (does it print/line-up the way you wanted?)

If #3 works out, use this as a template for programatically doing what needs
to get done.

Rob
PS Have SP2 applied (if you are running 2K), so as you have a print button
were you have greater control of the printing.

After I replied the first time, 'it sunk in'.... (I think...)

Are your trying create a 'snaking report'. Print ascending in column#1, wrap
to column#2 on same page, etc.?

ah!

now I'm with you... (but not really)

since I've never done one with SRSS.

can u try to create 1 in Access and import (and see how intelligable it
imports).

seems to be good so far (except it will not do a vertical alignment for
labels like access).
