Hi,

I would like to use report builder/report designer that comes with sql server
2000 standard edition. It works 'under' visual stuidio .net 2003, and I
couldn't find it downloadable. I tried install the visual studio .net 2008
express,  but it doesn't work :(

How can I force the builder to work?

thank you

chris

You have to purchase some product (any product) that comes with VS 2003. I
used to tell people to purchase vb.net 2003 (about $100) as the cheapest way
to get VS 2003. I don't know if this is still possible or not.

RS 2005 comes with a version of VS built in so if you don't have it then it
installs it. If you have VS 2005 then it integrates with it. Same thing with
VS 2008.

I strongly recommend going with VS 2005. There are a lot of performance and
other enhances compared with RS 2000. BTW, RS 2005 can use SQL 2000 database
(but you still need a SQL 2005 license).
