Making specific 'expand links' disapper - matrix report

I have a situation where I wish to disable or cause to disappear grouping
level expand links for some groups.

Here is the reason:

I have what I will call a asymetric hierarchy. I'll explain it this way.
There are five levels to the hierarchy and at the lowest level are
employees. Here is where data for the employees are displayed.

However there are managers at higher levels in the hierearchy. The data for
these managers appear where expected in the same place as it does for the
employees. That is okay and look appropriate because the manager now has a
longer textbox width which visual implies the manager position.

I was able to it do this by putting the mangers name at the appropariate
hierarchy level and then have nulls at all lower positions.

However since it is at a position considered a grouping level it retains the
expand collapse link thaht I gave to all hierarch levels. I would like to
disable these links for these managers thorugh some code. I wish to know how
this might be done. I believe there is a way to inspect the data contained
in the row to indicate is shoule be suppressed, but what code will
selectively suppress a link for a given position?

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Doug

Hi Doug,
From your description, it seemed that you were using subreports to display your hierarch levels with
toggle item, right? Did you specify the Hyperlink action under Navigation tab? If so, you should be
able to use Expression combined with IIF function to control if clicking the item can jump to a
subreport.

If that was not the case, I appreciate if you could mail me (changliw_at_microsoft_dot_com) some
screenshots so that I can better understand your issue and perform effective research.

Look forward to your response.

Charles Wang
