I already have SQL Reporting installed and I have previously created reports
using the Report Designer via Visual Studio .NET.
Since then, I have had to build a new Laptop and get Report Designer
Componenets installed on my Laptop. To add to the fire, I now have an
assistant with a his own Laptop that needs to be able to write reports via
Visual Studio .NET as well.
Now, for the live of me, I can not remember how I installed on my previous
Laptop, so, on my new Laptop I ran the Setup.exe from the SQL Reporting
Services CD ( as mentioned in various books I have on the subject.). Clicked
through the Welcome, EULA, but then, at the Registration Information, it
asks for Name/Company and PRODUCT KEY!!!
Uhmm, what Product Key?!?! I checked the CD no product key.
So, how is Report Designer Components of the SQL Reporting Services
licensed? How do obtain a Product Key for the Client Report Designer
Componenets (Business Intelligent Object Types?
Thanks in advance,

What about the product key of your sql-server-license?
It should work, because RS are licensed via your existing
sql-server-license.
It should be a try worth

Well, I checked with my associate in-charge of Licenses and according to him
we would have installed SQL Server under the Microsoft Licensing CDs which do
not require a Product Key to install the Server. Which leaves me without a
Product Key to install the Reporting Services on our Laptops.
The funny thing is that I checked my old laptop and sure enough, in
Add/Remove Programs is Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services.
I have no idea what do next! Any ideas?
