How can I test from Windows, using the registry or APIs or ... that
Full-Text Search is installed on a SQL box?
I want to confirm during an application install that FTS is present.
I want to perform the test at the operating system level, not through SQL
Server.
The application is installed on a machine that does not have SQL installed.
I will have the UNC of the machine that has SQL installed.

try this

set objSearchAdmin=CreateObject("MSSearch.Admin")
for each application in objSearchAdmin.Applications
wscript.echo application.Name
