Hi,
       I am running sql 2000 sp 3a on a ms cluster with w2k sp3.
this below error occurs suddenly from aug 8th, which in turns the
sql full-text will failed.

800706be - The remote procedure call failed.
Server event log records: Microsoft Search service terminated unexpectedly.

I am suspecting an existing housekeeping job that trigger the error
above. the housekeeping job status show as cancelled everyday since aug. I
have stopped it since 2 weeks back, and the ms search error did not appear
anymore.

1) what kind of sql 2000 commands uses the ms search/full-text ?
2) any stuff i can check on why the error occur suddenly as the housekeeping
job was running fine since dec 04.

Thanks in advance

Beisaikong,
A very unusual error. Could you review your server's Application event log
for "Microsoft Search" and MssCI source events from around the day / time
that the below error occurred? Please review all MssCi events
(informational, warnings and errors) as this source event will provide more
detail on what happed prior or shortly after the "800706be - The remote
procedure call failed." event and post the descriptions.

Regards,
John

Have a look at the troubleshooting section towards the bottom of this link -

http://www.indexserverfaq.com/clusterfailure.htm

I think you are running into the same condition.
