Can u install FTS later on? I have a clustered env. and due to failure in
registering FTS the entire install is rolling back? so perhaps I can delete
the FTS Resource and install it later...

Not on a cluster. Components can't be added after the cluster is built.
Full-text is not an optional component on SQL 2000 clusters - it is
installed by default - are we talking 2005.
