Use filtdump -b to see what the iFilter extracts. I don't see the i.e.
characters at the start of my rtfs. Can you post a problem rtf here or send
it to me offline.

I can send you a sample rtf file, containg the meta-tags causing the issue
Can you provide me with your email address please
Also not been able to find FiltDump or where I should obtain this from..I do
have a MS MSDN subscription.. Would they have it perhaps on that site (if you
can advise that would be great)
BTW the comment I.E symbol was actually meant to mean that we had the word
'symbol' in meta-tags in thertf doc like the following 1st line of the doc
shows when viewed in notepad:
{\rtf1\ansi\ansicpg1252\deff0\deflang1033\deflangfe1033{\fonttbl{\f0\froman\fprq2\fcharset0
Times New Roman;}{\f1\froman\fprq2\fcharset2 Symbol;}{\f2\froman\fcharset0
//////////////;}}
As we have Index Server return large volume of results if we search for this
keyword on the index catalog, also we get results for 'fcharset2' {Preceding
word}
If this .rtf is opened in MS word and saved as a .doc then it does not
return the .doc file in the Search results, presuming this is using a
different ifilter when parsing the .doc file etc..
Hope this made more sense - this time

The email address I post with is valid. Filtdump is available on the
platform sdk
I think what you are talking about is the characterization in the rtf. This
is just a display issue and I'm confused as to how this impacts you.
