Hi,

We're using Full text indexing on a couple of small databases (maybe
50mb each). Three times in the last week, I've had customers compain
that their websites are unresponsive or have SQL timeout error messages
when performing a search which uses FT.

Logging on to the machine shows that msftesql.exe is using 100% CPU on
both processors. The only way to make the machine usable again is to
keep killing the process until it stops reloading.

Does anybody know any causes of this problem? The databases are small
and only have a couple of columns indexed on one or two tables each.

I'm using SQL Server 2005 SP2.

Thanks,

Nick...

Hi Hilary,

Sorry for the delay. I'm not sure what an iFilter is, so I'll get back
to you on this. I haven't knowingly used one at all!
