Hello. I'm running Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition with SP1. After
installing SP1 for OS I installed MS SQL Server 2000 and applied the SP3a.
Then I checked my system with MBSA. MBSA reported that I have to apply the
MS03-31 patch. I installed this patch but after this the sql server started
to work very strange. It crashes very often at random intervals of time.
There are no log on sql errors. The only entry in windows log is:

The MSSQLSERVER service terminated unexpectedly.  It has done this 1 time(s).

Does anybody know this problem ? Please help.

There is no patch for MS03-031 on WS03 SP1 as it contains a mismatch of
binaries. MS has been notified about it and they are addressing it. The
answer I've been given is to manually update the files from the patch OR
wait for SQL 2000 SP4. Neither are good choices.
