Hi,
I was able to register our new SQL server (S1) using 'sa'. But when I linked
it to another server (S2), I cannot see any tables in that server. I got
Error 17: SQL server does not exist or access denied. I deleted the default
Remote server and now when I tried to create a new one, it didn't let me to
leave the 'Local Login Name' blank when I selected 'Map remote logins to
different local logins'. I have administrator rights on both servers. I need
to be able to run views from S2. What should I do now?
Thanks in advance.

additional information:
We have 3 other SQL servers and they are able to link to S1 and see the
tables. All servers except S2 are joined to our network domain. I don't think
this is the problem because S2 can link to those 3 servers and see the tables.
Please help.
Thanks.

It would be helpful to know what version of SQL Server (2000/2005) you are
using.

Hi Arnie,
thanks for your reply.
We use SLQ 2000. I was finally able to link the server by using the IP
address. When I pinged S1 from S2 using its name, S2 didn't recognize S1. But
it recognized its IP address. So I used alias.
Thanks.
