Hi,
I'm trying to restore a database that existed in SQL Server 2000 to SQL
Server 2005 Express edition and I keep getting the following error:
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlError: Directory lookup for the file (name of the
file) failed with the operating system error 5(Access is denied.).
(Microsoft.SqlServer.Express.Smo)

I backed up the database using SQL Server 2000 and I simply want to restore
the database in 2005 Express.

The system is XP Professional and I am logged on as the administrator.
I'm using SQL Server and Windows Authentication mode in both SQL Server 2000
and in SQL Server 2005 Express.

Any ideas.

Thanks,

Any errors in Event Viewer, SQL Server LOG file?

Uri,
All of the log files are empty which is a little odd. I would think there
would be something in the log files.

Also, the database I'm trying to resotore is only 130 MB so I'm not running
into a size restriction.

Ok, another question is , does the login have an appropiate permissions on
the folder where you are trying to restore?

Navigate to the folder and try to create a new file there.

Uri,

I checked the security on the folder where the file exists and the file
itself. The "Allow" permissions are checked for both the folder and file for
the login account that I am using as well as the SQL Server 2005 Express
group.
