Hello,

When I attempt to select this audit class in profiler, it is not even
listed. When I try to create a trace programatically (i.e.
sp_trace_setevent, etc), for this event only (event id = 154 as per BOL), I
get the error "'Msg 19053, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_trace_setevent,
Line 1 The trace event ID is not valid.'" This is the case when I tested on
both RTM & SP1.

This confirms that this trace event is not available at all. I know database
mirroring got "pulled" (meaning its production supportability) for the RTM
release, but its functionality has been stable/supported since SP1. Also,
BOL has been updated a few times, and there is no mention of this audit
event being removed or not existing. Please advise. Thanks.

Interesting, same here (I'm on sp2). Looks like a BOL error to me. OR perhaps this is only available
as an event notification (something I doubt) but BOL should have said so. I'd do a BOL feedback...

Tibor, thanks for confirming the existence of the problem on SP2 as well.
This is an important issue, as I am coding a Sarbanes-Oxley audit
application to be used corporate wide.  Consequently, I've created a bug
report at
https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/ViewFeedback.aspx?FeedbackID=293825
and hope to hear from MS very soon...

Amazing, still no response from MS, though the problem is so clearly
documented here and so easily reproduced...

I've submitted many bugs on Connect for which I have not received any
reply for a long time.

I checked with July CTP of SQL 2008, and in this version there is an
entry with id = 154 in sys.trace_events, and the name is indeed Audit
Database Mirroring Login Event Class.

My guess is that this trace event was dropped from Yukon very late in the
cycle, because of some unexpected complexity, and then was deferred to
SQL 2008. Unfortunately, this did not make into the documentation.
