I am new to SQL Server 2005.  Here's my issue:

I am installing PeopleSoft with SQL Server 2005 backend.  When I try to
create the database it is giving me an error message Msg 5123 operating
system error (Access is denied) while attempting to open or create the
physical file 'C:/program files/EP_data.mdf'..

Can someone tell me the steps in setting up an user/login with the proper
credentials to create an database.

Is this related to security or something as I am not sure.

Any help is appreciated.

Are you creating the database using SQL Server Management Studio or you are
allowing PeopleSoft to create the database for you?

I am allowing PeopleSoft to create the database for me.

Thank you for your reply.  I really hope to get this working soon.

It's not clear to me: do you get this error when you install PeopleSoft
(a product I'm completely unacquainted with), or at some later stage
after PeopleSoft has been installed?

Is SQL Server 2005 installed before you install PeopleSoft, or does
PeopleSoft install the database for you?

Make sure that the account you use for your PeopleSoft service has
permissions to create databases in your SQL Server instance
