How do you turn off the sharing to a SQL Server 2000 database. I want to
remove the symbol of the hand holding the database(yellow cylinder) when I
view my databases. I can't find the option. So I am mainly looking at how
to get to that option.

That's not a sharing icon, but something else. I don't know what, though.
Can you run sp_helpdb on that datbase and post the output? That should
probably reveal which option that is in force.

I believe the database hand icon indicates the database is published for
replication. You'll need to use the replication tools/procs to remove
replication if that's your goal.

Found the answer in another question someone asked.
It is part of replication.
To remove it when you don't need replication anymore.
Go to Tools>Replication>Configure Publishing Subscribers and distribution> go
to tab Publication Databases> and uncheck the Databases you want to remove it
from.
