I will have some servers that might need to downgrade from Sql 2000 Standard
to SQL 2000 Workgroup and want to be prepared for the questions.  Assuming
that the hardware and software are in spec, has anyone done this yet?  Any
KB's or other MSFT notes on the topic?

Also, when MSFT states that Workgroup supports two processors, does that
mean it will run on all processors when I have a physical 2 Xeon machine,
hyper threading enabled and the OS sees 4 procs?  I have never had a clear
answer from MSFT about if they meant physical processors or virtual(hyper
threaded) processors.

Gracias.

Ok, so I found the answer for myself. <heh>  This is from the SQL 2000
Workgroup CDROM "Readme.txt":

   2.1 Supported Upgrades
Upgrades from SQL Server 2000 Workgroup Edition to SQL Server
2000 Standard Edition or to SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition
       are permitted.

There is no upgrade path to SQL Server 2000 Workgroup Edition
from any SQL Server 2000 edition (Personal, Developer, Evaluation,
       MSDE, WMSDE, Standard, or Enterprise).

Upgrades to SQL Server 2000 Workgroup Edition from any edition
of SQL Server version 7.0 or earlier are blocked

With regard to Hyper Threading, from
http://www.microsoft.com/sql/howtobuy/faq.asp:

Q.In a system with Intel Hyper-Threading Technology enabled, do I have
to pay for each logical processor?
A.Under the Per Processor licensing model, SQL Server 2000 only requires
a license for each physical processor.
