In the event viewer:  In Application Log properties, there are options on
what to do "When maximum log size is reached."  I set it to "Overwrite as
Needed", but the next day it is changed to "Overwrite Events Older than 5
Days."

Why does it do this and how can I make it stop?  It has been going on for
several months.

Your question isn't really a SQL Server question and you'd probably be
better off asking it in one of the microsoft.public.windows.server.*
groups, but it occurred to me that the setting that you're trying to set
might be being reset by a group policy?  Just a wild stab in the dark...

Good luck,
Tony Sebion
