Hi - I'm brand new.  I downloaded SQL 2000 with my school agreement.  In
class the teacher mentioned that we should immediately download the patches
before we run it.  What patches should I install.  I downloaded the
Professional version off the MS website today.
Thanks

I believe SP4 is the must current service pack.  Go to the MS SQL home page
or search for SQL 2000 downloads.

Be careful. If the installation is to support a vendor application, then you
need to be sure that the vendor supports it. SP4 makes some fundamental
changes to the database structure/ The vendor of our medical database is
still "evaluating" SP4... They only support up to SP3a

Hank has an excellent point - I made an assumption you would check with your
vendor to see what they support.

Thanks - I'm using it thru with school for now and to learn with it.
Eventually work is going to purchase it and replace all the access db they
use now.  So I guess it's ok to download up to sp4
Thanks again.
