OK...I'm installing a new SQL 2005 cluster installation. We installed the
64-bit version on these same servers without issue. Due to some
mis-information from a software vendor (not Microsoft), we are having to
rebuild as 32-bit. So, we wiped the servers, installed Server 2003
Enterprise and setup the Quorum, MSDTC, and 2 disk groups. Everything fails
over and back just fine.
Here's our setup:
Server1:
c - 12.7GB free - OS
d - 38.5GB free - Paging file and installation Source
e - 136GB free - Application installation
Server2:
c - 12.7GB free - OS
d - 38.5GB free - Paging file and installation Source
e - 136GB free - Application installation
Q - Quorum - 1GB
N - MSDTC - 1GB
Disk Group1:
F - Data01 - 60GB
G - Log01 - 139GB
Disk Group2:
H - Data02 - 60GB
I - Log02 - 139GB
The issue is, I'm running the install on Server1. It gets through all the
pre-reqs and through the network setup and such. Then on the page for the
Cluster Group Selection, the Cluster Group is set to Q, MSDTC Group to N, SQL
Instance 1 to F, and SQL Instance 2 to H. When I click next I get: "There is
not enough disk space on the desination disk for the current SQL Server data
files. To proceed, free up disk space to make room for data files, or
install the data files to a different drive."
I'm at my wits end with this one. HELP!!!!

Stephanie,
After spending almost 2 hours on the phone with Microsoft Support, we got to
the answer. And it has NOTHING to do with the error message.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/285089
Turns out we were receiving a strange error setting up a pair of servers for
a failover file server cluster and this was the same fix. We've devided to
include this in our standard cluster build from now on.
