Hi All,
I am facing poor perfornance of queries in SQL Server 2005 Standard
Edition.  whereas I had worked on SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition
(Evaluation Version) and these queries were performing the best of
them. I had not used any advance option in Ent. Edition for Query
optimization. I am having the same indexes in Std. Edition as they were
in Ent. Edition but my queries got Pathetically slow.

In Ent. Edition the logical reads of my queries were just in few
thousands but in Std. Editions they have touched the mark of Millions.

Now I am planning to buy license of SQL for which I am confused seeing
the performance of my queries I cud not decide to why edition I should
buy.

Is there any difference in Database Engine used by both the editions?

Please help me in this regard.

Thanks in advance.

Yes there is. With the Enterprise edition comes a lot of features,
especially in regards to parallel operations and caching. Also more
recovery operations can be done online, and you can create table
partitions.

If you can afford it, by all means go with the Enterprise edtition.
