Welcome to this world Dave =)
You need to investigate Database Rovery Models. Then you should choose the
appropriate one for your database. You can have information about this topic
from this link: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa173531.aspx
Then you should read Tibor's article about shrinking. Using this article,
you'll know when to shrink it and why you should not perform this action any
time: http://www.karaszi.com/SQLServer/info_dont_shrink.asp
DBCC commands are not something to download. There are some DBCC Commands
that you can use in certain cases. You can have information about DBCC
commands from Books Online:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa258281(SQL.80).aspx
Books Online (BOL) is a SQL Server referance e-encyclopedia. Take advantage
of it!: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb545450.aspx
