Yes, you should be ok if you put it in 8.0 compatibility mode.

Yes.

Depending on what "deploy" mean from OP, "Yes" would be very vague answer. I
would say NO is the most possible answer. If you want to deploy database
designed/developed with SQL Server2005/Express, even you put it in 8.0 (SQL
Serve2000) compatibility mode, you cannot deploy it by backup/restore or
detach/attach, which is the most common way to deploy/transfer a database
from one server to the other server. That is, the data file format is
different and SQL Server2005's data file cannot be used for SQL Server2000,
only the other way around.
If the "deploy" means scripting out all data schemas in SQL Server2005, and
re-creating the database with the scripts, then yes. So, unless the OP means
this, NO answer would be more appropriate.

Hi John,
I do it this way but you need to have a testing environment at the
2005 server, too.
You're nearly save if your database was created at sql server 2000 and
transferred to 2005.
Going this way it is in a compatible mode and should usually accept no
2005 language parts.
But I won't rely on that.
The amount of features that were new in 2005 are legion ... so look at
old microsoft announces for sql server 2005 to read that.
With replication I cannot help further.
Bye, Manfred
