Transaction can not start while in firehose mode

dear sir/madam
  When I open enterprse manager and wants to change some record and
try to save then it gives a messaage
Transaction can not start while in firehose mode.

Try to scroll down to the bottom of the result. EM isn't really the best tool for such operations.

Better would be to write your own UPDATE statement to modify the record of
concern.
