Gurus,
When you install a SQL Server 2005 Named Instance, it uses a dynamically
allocated port (as opposed to port 1433 in a default instance). Is this
more "secure"?

Hi Spin,
Not really but if 1433 is open on the internet, bots will grind at the SA
password 24\7. It might take a little more trouble to find out the non
standard port but not much.

Maybe, but your security environment should be such that it shouldn't make a
difference. In other words, you shouldn't count on dynamic ports to give you
security.
