Hello:

We have a client on SQL 2000 version 8.00.2039.  When we conduct a manual
restore of a database, we cannot do so by right-clicking on that database in
Enterprise Manager.  Enterprise Manager freezes when we choose All
Tasks...Restore.  So, we end up having to instead run a script in Query
Analyzer to restore the database.

Why is it that Enterprise Manager freezes like this?  Does Enterprise
Manager need to be "reinstalled"?  Does a service pack need to be put on?

I ask if Enterprise Manager perhaps needs to be reinstalled, because we have
also noticed that our weekly maintenance plan takes up so much RAM on the
server that we have to reboot the server the next day in order to free up the
RAM.

Thanks!

Perhaps you have lots and lots of backup history (which is read by EM when you open the dialog).
Google for things like backup history, delete etc and see if that is your case.
