Hi,

Last night I did upgrade SQL express to SQL std using command
setup.exe SKUUPGRADE=1. Then I applied SP1 and SP2. However I only did
database service upgrade and forgot the workstation components. Can I do this
after upgrading the database service and applied the sps.

Thanks in advance,
sg

You can apply a service pack to the tools separately.

Hi Tom,

Thanks for quick response.
What you meant is that I can upgrade SMO seperately without affecting
database engine. Because the database is standard edition, however, the SMO
is still express edition.
Then after upgrading tools, when applying service packs, it shouldn't affect
database engine, right?
This server is production, I'm a little worried.

Thanks,
Sarah

When you did your SKU upgrade, you just upgraded the RDBMS, right?  Not the
tools?  If so, I believe you'll have to do the SKU upgrade on the tools,
then apply the SP.

Yes, you are right. I just want to make sure it shouldn't affect RDBMS.

Thanks so much,
Sarah
