The cluster consists of two nodes and of two instances. One default sql
instance and one another named instanse.
To connect to the named instance all the clients have alias(done by
cliconfg.exe), but when the instance fails over to another node no one
what if ClusterIP is on Node A and SQL Server is on NodeB30 Jun 2005 02:33 GMT2

SQL Server resource is on Node B?
Thanks
What causes a SQL Cluster to Failover?29 Jun 2005 14:59 GMT2
What causes SQL Server to fail from the active node other than the heartbeat
flat-lining?  I have the cluster installed and tested the heartbeat by
unplugging the active machine.  Failover works great.
My question is what else can cause the failover?  Lets say we have a memory

Network Name and Kerberos Auth!27 Jun 2005 12:42 GMT1
Firstly, please note that this is PURELY a Clustering / Active Directory
question and nothing to do with SQL Server ... there just wasn't any other
clustering newsgroups around!!
Anyway, we have as Server2003 Cluster and i'm trying to setup a group that
Single Node Cluster Upgrade27 Jun 2005 10:14 GMT5
We have a SQL 2k Single Node Cluster that we are adding a Passive node

on the Passive node. The Active Node has SP3a already installed. We get
an error stating "All cluster disks available to this virtual server
SSPI error25 Jun 2005 10:03 GMT4
SQL 2K EE is running on a 2-node cluster.  All was fine.
Suddenly, node 2 owned the cluster group and now SQL is running on node 2.
The reason is the problem:
One node 1, SQL service is not starting and the MMC SQL snap-in returns
cluster manager and sql authentication24 Jun 2005 02:05 GMT3
I am a newbie to clustering so I hope this makes sense.  Does the Cluster
Manager have to be in the sysadmin role?  If not, what are the roles that it
does require?
Thanks for any guidance.
Changing port numbers23 Jun 2005 18:52 GMT3
On an active/active cluster what is the proper way of changing the port # on
the named instance after an install is complete and in use.
Issues with moving existing single production server setup to a New Cluster installation23 Jun 2005 14:14 GMT2
According to the documentation the chosen Cluster name and IP address need
to be unused before installing the cluster. The IP address is not a problem,
but it will be a difficult task with the Cluster Name as the business
processes have many scripts, DTS packages, stored procedures ...
SQL load balancing23 Jun 2005 14:07 GMT1
We are afraid to start to hit the limit of the capacity on our production
server and we are starting to think about scalability. We would like to
scale out SQL Server and I wonder if it is possible to load balance SQL
server. Is there any third paty software able to do that?
index23 Jun 2005 12:53 GMT3
If I create a database , it will have a *.mdx and *.log files cater for
that database. If I create a index (clustered or non clustered) is it store
on the mdx files as well or index pages are store on different files ?

Named Instances23 Jun 2005 03:41 GMT2
In SQL 2000 Clustering, can I have only one default instance for the entire
cluster or can I have one default per virtual server. In other words, can
all my SQL installs in a cluster be default, each on a different virtual
server?
install sp1 on W2K3 cluster w/ SQL 2000 - any know issues?22 Jun 2005 20:36 GMT3
Got a pair of HP DL380s clustered and am getting ready to install SP1.
Anyone have problems with the SP in a SQL cluster?  Put SP1 on a Dell 1750
print cluster and it erased the RAID drivers on one of the nodes - something
I definitely want to avoid on my SQL box.  Thanks.
