Cluster question31 Oct 2006 20:23 GMT5
My employer is asking to do an Active / Active SQL 2000 cluster to utilize
both servers.  Problem is, I don't think SQL 2000 supports an Active/Active
solution because both would need access to the disk which isn't possible...
The only time an Active / Active cluster can work is ...
Installing a cluster on an existing instance of SQL 2000 SP3A31 Oct 2006 20:12 GMT2
I have been "tapped" to install a passive node on an instance of SQL
that is not currently configured for clustering on a W2003. Can I
simply install clustering services on the current production instance,
then install a new instance on what would be the passive node? Then add
SQl Server fails to start on 1 node31 Oct 2006 15:19 GMT2
Install worked fine, installed sp4 but when I go to fail from one node
to the other it fails to start on the second node. All shared storage,
IP's failover correctly, node service accounts are the same, second
node can connect to the instance by name when it is started on the
SP1 only installs on the Active Node31 Oct 2006 15:05 GMT2
I have a Win2003, SQL 2005 active/passive cluster. We did a fresh install of
the OS and SQL. The install of SQL seemed to go OK. I installed SP1 with both
nodes active. The install went successful on the active node (Node A), but
SP1 was not installed on the inactive node (Node ...
Pros and Cons30 Oct 2006 16:28 GMT8
I'm writing a proposal for a DR solution for a SQL based application.  I've
been looking at clustering, database mirroring, etc.  Has anyone come across
any documentation discussing the pro's and cons of the various options
available?
300MB DB uses 1.4GB RAM!?30 Oct 2006 10:19 GMT9
SQL Server 2000 running nothing but a 300MB database over the course of a
month of continuous use from a single application winds up grabbing 1.4GB of
RAM. Is that normal or excessive? (No performance degradation at all, jut a
lot of RAM allocated.)
SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition and Compliant Mode 8027 Oct 2006 02:14 GMT1
If you run SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition in compliant mode 80, can you
still utilize log shipping, database mirroring, or clustering?  If it is
possible, are there any problems related to the setup or administration?
Great Plains 8.0/Dynamics 9 in a Clustered Environment26 Oct 2006 05:44 GMT4
I am pretty sure the answer is Yes, but I need to cover my bases on this.
I know the SQL is covered, but are the applications above capable of
functioning, i.e. cluster aware, in a clustered environment?  If so, does
anyone have any instructions or pointers to set me off into the ...
SQL 2005 cluster25 Oct 2006 22:07 GMT3
Overview:
We are planning a 2 node cluster. The Active node will be 8 GB RAM with one
instance of SQL 2005 and 150 GB of SAN disk.  This is considered the
production node with failover to the second node (Passive).
Migration to MySQL?25 Oct 2006 13:48 GMT3
From a "price point of view" migrating from the actual platform (2 node
cluster Windows server 2003 with SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition)to MySQL
can be very attractive.
In fact our management starts to think that way...

Problems with Virtual Test Environment setup17 Oct 2006 16:04 GMT2
Has anyone successfully created a test setup with Virtual Server 2005 RC2
using two shared resources: Quorum and Shared Disk Array. I have followed
the "Using MicroSoft Virtual Server 2005 to Create and Configure a Two-Node
Microsoft Window Server 2003 Cluster" document and ...
Majority Node Set cluster17 Oct 2006 15:29 GMT2
If you want to deploy a SQL 2005 geocluster or a cluster without shared
storage for quorum - there is only Windows 2003 Ent Edition "Majority Node
Set" option.
Majority Node Set implies three nodes for failover - in case one node is
