I have a 2-node cluster (32-bit) at 8.00.818 that has approximately 100
databases of varying sizes that are used to feed some tax websites.  Recently
we did a repair on one of the databases with a DBCC CHECKDB with
ALLOW_DATA_LOSS to repair some issues with one database.  That ...
Add a 3rd node to a 2 instance active/active cluster07 Feb 2007 04:45 GMT3
If I add a 3rd node to an already existing 2 node active/active cluster, do
I have to take the other 2 instances offline as I configure the 3rd node?
I have never configured a cluster before, but I am under the assumption that
when you build a cluster, each nodes should be able to ...
client can't connect when instance on one particular node06 Feb 2007 16:34 GMT6
OK - so here's the setup - two node cluster (we'll say Node1 & Node2),
two instances (so multi instance, we'll say SQL1 & SQL2).  W2K3 server
on the nodes, SQL 2000 SP4 for SQL version.  Our situation is this.
We removed Node1 from the virtual server using the setup utility in
Side-by-side upgrade - moving master, msdb and model06 Feb 2007 13:01 GMT14

Does SSRS support cluster?05 Feb 2007 03:21 GMT5
SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services, Notification Services, and Integration
Services are not cluster-aware; they are always installed as stand-alone
components, but can use a clustered SQL Server database.
Words above come from sql 2005 help on msdn, but the guide of technet for ms ...
Run out of alphabets04 Feb 2007 07:37 GMT6
When you set up say 3 active and 1 passive multi instance cluster and
especially if any one instance uses say 10 alphabets, how do you configure
the cluster then ? Can you use something other than alphabets for your
resources ? This would be tied to a SAN too...
Whats the actual term for active/active cluster ?04 Feb 2007 06:18 GMT4

Any documentation to set up multi instance cluster04 Feb 2007 00:37 GMT2

Mirroring vs Clustering...03 Feb 2007 18:03 GMT9
I am breaking my head trying to figure what should we be using as a standard
for our HA/DR planning.
Can you help me figure out how to make the choice ? Cost is not a factor
here. Is Mirroing a better choice than Clustering ?
Why multi-instace cluster and not active-active ?03 Feb 2007 14:18 GMT1
Why is it called multi-instance cluster and not active-active ? I thought I
heard the explanation before but cannot seem to recollect.
Thanks
third node will not join cluster03 Feb 2007 09:42 GMT4
We did this before so we know  the process works. The background info
is we have a massive active/active
(2 node) sql cluster running Datacenter 2000. We need to upgrade
hardware and OS. migrating DB's is not an option due to huge numbers.
SQL Cluster cleanup02 Feb 2007 21:34 GMT5
I had the task of renaming virtual SQL name on an exiting 3 node Windows
2003 SP1/ SQL 2000 SP4 cluster from SRV1\INST1 to SRV1\INST2. The first
thing came up to my mind was to change SQL Cluster name resource to the new
one. After the change, SQL Service resource generated a lot ...

Reverse log shipping01 Feb 2007 13:29 GMT1
We are in the planning stage of a redundant SQL environment and had a
question about log shipping.
We would like to double our use of the standby server and use it as a
pre-production server from time to time.  Meaning, we would like to import
