running sql 2005 sp2 on pre-sp1 cluster?31 Mar 2008 17:52 GMT1
Hi All: I've read the support page for installing sp2 on a cluster, but I'm
just wondering if there are any other "gotchas" that aren't covered there?
Also I want to go straight from RTM to sp2...are there any issues I need to
be aware of in a cluster environment?
cluster and tempdb on c:\30 Mar 2008 19:54 GMT9
I'm trying to boost SQL server 2000's speed at running some of my long
queries. Is it a good idea to put the tempDB on a physically separate HD
subsystem in the interest of speed? I want to do this but......

Load Balancing VIP in SQL Server Clustering29 Mar 2008 11:20 GMT4
From what I have read, SQL Server is per se not fault tolerant.  In other
words, in a two node instance should one node fail the transactions in
progress will not automatically switchover and hit the node that is still
running, ie, there is a lag in the switching of the nodes.   ...
SQL Server cluster migration28 Mar 2008 19:13 GMT4
We are running an active/active SQL Server cluster with 4 named instances of
SQL Server 2000.  We run 2 instances on each cluster node.  We would like to
perform an in-place migration to sql server 2005 of one of the SQL Server
instances.   We don't have a "test" cluster to work ...

SQL Server 2005 cluster duplicated data25 Mar 2008 04:17 GMT1
We have a 64 bit SQL Server 2005 Cluster (Active/Passive) that was upgraded
from a 32 bit SQL 2000 Server.  Our cluster is not yet running Service Pack 2.
We hosted an ASP.Net web application as the front end for a few internal
contests.  Over the course of these contests rarely ...
Scale out tech25 Mar 2008 04:13 GMT1
we have been reviewing the possibilities of scale-out technology such as
data partitioning, federated servers, peer to peer repl, clustering, etc.
It appears that scaling out will be very difficult to implement for SQL
Server. Does anyone know of any plans in SQL2008 or greater ...
Performance discrepancy between two boxes on an active/active?24 Mar 2008 19:18 GMT8
Howdy.  I'm running an Active/Active cluster on a SQL Server 2005
cluster.  Both have identical hardware, and obviously the same disks.
One really odd thing I'm seeing, though: the first Active node,
running on the first box, sucks.  When trying to connect, list SPs,
Virtual Server Configuration24 Mar 2008 02:11 GMT4
I am reading how to install SQL 2005 in a clustered environment from a text book and have never done it personally myself.  When you reach the Virtual Server Configuration during setup, it states:
"The next thing you need to do for this new virtual server specification is to ...
Moving cluster to a new domain23 Mar 2008 00:27 GMT2
We have two production SQL Server 2005 clusters. The one (the old) cluster
is member of its own domain, called SQL-CLUSTER. The other cluster servers
are members of our production domain, where all other production servers are
members.
New to clustering and need some clarification on disk resources20 Mar 2008 21:25 GMT14
I have been working on a 2 node cluster W2k3 EE R2 x64 2 indentical servers
on a brand new SAN.  In my reading I have found that I need two separate Disk
bus on each server.  So I have my local SCSI Raid controller hosting a RAID 1
configuration and I made it drive Q and ...
SQL Server Named instance with Default Instance18 Mar 2008 18:54 GMT9
We are running SQL Server 2005 Cluster enviornment with single
instance-two node configuration.  Presently both servers have 4GB ram, with
3.4Ghz 32-bit Quad-Core CPUs on both.
Our Network guys are installing Microsoft OCS 2007, and are demanding
Sql 2k5 and Win2k3 Cluster Resource Question18 Mar 2008 14:38 GMT4
I'm troubleshooting a related problem, and was hoping someone could give me a
complete list of the resources installed for SQl2005 a/p clustering, for both
the SQL and the cluster groups. Just want to eliminate the possibility that
something is missing.
SQL and its Services18 Mar 2008 14:20 GMT2
Can I install SQL 2005, and Analysis and Reporting services all in the same
cluster?
No, I don't care whether it is advisable, just whether it can be done. I
have never tried it.
Attaching volumes to a SQL Cluster 200515 Mar 2008 05:37 GMT1
We have our production SQL 2005 server (64 bit Standard Ed.) attached to an
iSCSI Equalogic SAN. We have set up 2 new servers an installed the cluster
service. My question is: can I install SQL 2005 in this cluster environment
and latter on disconnect the data and log volumes ...
