i understand that the technology for clustering are N+1 or N+m. However, Can 1 deploy sql cluster nodes in odd numbers? Example, 3 nodes with active/active/passive or 5 nodes with 3 active/2 passive ?? Many thanks!!

I have recently configured two node SQL 2005 failover cluster. I'm wondering if anybody has some king of document/article on how to backup the cluster (both servers and databases). I'm planing to use NetBackup 6.5 for this purpose.

Anyone have any ideas why a SQL 2005 active/active configuration, would be noticibly slower than if I move one of the active nodes to the other and run on the same node? It doesn't matter which node I put them on, when I run them on 2 different

I have added a new sql cluster drive resource into my cluster and brought this online succesfully. However, SQL still cannot see this drive when I try to add new database files. Any ideas would be gratefully received!

I have run into issue with proxy account in cluster - after failover from 1 node to 2nd it stops working. Also resetting the password doesn't help - still jobs fail with an error: a required privilage is not held by the client. Permissions on server seems to be the same.

Need a little bit of insight, we *might* be looking at implementing 8-Node cluster. I can set up 2-node cluster without issue with Active-Passive configuration; when setting up 2+ Node configuration I am a bit lost.
