Trying to install SQL Server Express 2005 DB for doing shapes development, however when I try the install, I get the following error message: "This machine does not currently have SQL Server 2000 or compatible technologies (MSDE) installed."

I've enabled the TCP/IP protocol on my MSDE(ver.2000), but I cannot connect the MSDE instance from other machines. Do you know how to solve this problem? Thanks

Dear Freinds, I purchased a piece of software yesterday for over 600 dollars. That Application depends on installing SQL Server Desktop Engine. It goes to "6 seconds left" and then just hangs. I tried a hundred times - same results.

I've seen conflicting advice: Some say it's the *.MDF file AND the *LDF file combined that equal the 2GB limit, so I have to monitor both and sum them to calculate my database size. Still others say that those files can individually reach 2GB. Which is it?

I have SQL2005 WKG edtn on my WS2k3 standard box. I noticed that backups from sql2k5 cannot be restored on MDSE 2.0... so, since I need to create bkps that have to be restored on clients pc's with MSDE, I decided to install an instance of MSDE on the server.

I have MSDE loaded on my computer and have a database that I want to query but don't know what tables are in the database (an ASP.net learning program created the database). How do I get information about the tables in the database? Do I use 'osql' from a command line?

We have two Windows 2003 servers. One is a dedicated server for a TeleVantage phone system. The other is our main server and domain controller. The Televantage workstation application uses MSDE to talk to the SQL server 2000 Application on the server.
