When I install my instance of NETSDK MSDE I am trying to get it to appear as the instance shown in the MSDE Explorer in the task bar. No other instance is installed. How can I do this? All I get right now is it saying it "not connected". It needs to show this

I have an issue with Windows Firewall and SQL Server on our server. I have tried to allow remote access to SQL server. The default setup of SQL server Express is to use dynamic ports. However, beacause we use a firewall, I need to set one port which all client connections use.

I have a couple of databases developed and being used in MSDE. The db's are used and maintained from a couple of programs written in Visual Basic 6 (using an ADO connection) (these programs run on a separate computer).
