I have some performance questions. First Off: Windows 2003 (all updates), SQL 2000 (sp3) , 2 Xeon 3.2GHz processors (w/ ht enabled), 4 120GB U320 drives configured in raid 5, 2GB ram, GB NIC, TCP/IP only protocol on network.

In the event viewer: In Application Log properties, there are options on what to do "When maximum log size is reached." I set it to "Overwrite as Needed", but the next day it is changed to "Overwrite Events Older than 5 Days."

Does SQL Server 2000 Std Ed require processor licensing to access dual processors on a Windows 2003 server? Will Server+User CALs licensing allow access to both processors? This doesn't seem clear in Microsoft's licensing documents and web pages.

1. is there any way i can totally switch off transactions in sql server so that even if there are several statements with in a begin and commit\rollback transaction , without waiting for either the commit or rollback , it just commits all the changes.
