KB article 304261 says you can use a non-local (network) drive (NAS, SAN) with SQL server 2000. I've got Trace flag 1807 set on (as per article) but it fails with error 5105 (not 5110 as per article). Has anyone done this successfully?

I currently have a 64bit hardware server running a 32 bit version of W2K and a 32 bit version of SQL Server 2000 Developers Edition. I want to upgare this box to W2K3 64 bit and SQL to 2005 enterprise edition 64 bit. Is this an upgradable path?

I am working on an installation that we would like to make SMS compatible and which also includes SQL 2005 Express. Everything that I have read so far seems to indicate that SQL 2005 Express cannot ever be pushed out using SMS or ActiveDirectory.
