I have read in the connect website (https://connect.microsoft.com/ SQLServer/feedback/ViewFeedback.aspx?FeedbackID=125021) That this issue was resolved in SP2. I have SP2 installed and still have the same problem.

Accessing a hosting company's MS SQL 2000 server. I don't have any problems connecting to a remote database with Query Analyzer (QA) or Enterprise Manager (EM)... as long as I first create "aliases" using the "client network utility" (CNU).

I've been using sp_sidmap to remap users when moving databases from server to server in SQL 2000 without any issues. Now that I'm setting up and migrating to SQL 2005, I've encounter issues with SID's not matching and would like to run sp_sidmap to sync.

Thanks, but this is the link I went to listed above. It does not explicitly say you can install the tools on a client box without a license if you have a server license. You can infer that from what it says, but I would really like to find it spelled out.
