I am having an issue lately where users are unable to add to any table in
one of the databases on the SQL 2000 server for a while, but then out of the
blue everything starts working again.  They are just doing a simple insert
of a record at the time.

I have a failover cluster based on win 2000 AS machines and SQL 2000 just
upgraded to SP4 a couple of days ago.

I have a 120 user network (which may well grow) and am wondering what the
reccomendations are for SQL Server in relation to Microsoft Office
SharePoint Server 2007.

We have set up a test server that has SQL 2005 on it.  If we restore backups
of our SQL 2000 databases from our SQL 2000 server into SQL 2005 on our test
server, will this upgrade the databases to 2005?  Or, do we need to go
through an upgrade "process"?
